Hi, I'm Neil (MJC) Herbst, and I live where mountains meet the sea—Cape Town, South Africa. For over 20 years, I've been exploring two landscapes that continue to transform me: the physical trails of the Western Cape and the spiritual journey of following Christ.

I'm a husband to Marinda, a ministry leader, and an author who writes about both hiking adventures and spiritual formation. Why both? Because I've discovered that the lessons learned on mountain paths often mirror the truths found in Scripture. Both journeys require preparation, humility, and trust. Both reveal beauty in unexpected places and strength we didn't know we had.

On the trails, I've explored everything from Table Mountain to the Cederberg Wilderness, documenting South Africa's most spectacular routes in comprehensive hiking guides. In faith, I've spent two decades in youth ministry and spiritual formation, helping people discover their identity in Christ through books like "Rewriting Your Genesis."
